Emily Savoie is a native to Pasadena California. She completed her master’s degree in furniture design at Rhode Island School of Design after studying Art History and French Literature at the University of California in San Diego. In 1999 she founded her first furniture and lighting business and spent the next decade designing and fabricating custom furniture and lighting for interior designers, architects and individual home owners. She also had line of short-run production furniture that was sold in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Marshall McCormick moved from the Pacific Northwest to Los Angeles in 1999. After several years as a corporate attorney, Marshall left law to pursue his passion for the decorative arts. It was his affinity for interior design that lead him to work with such noted design firms as Studio Sofield and Judith Lance, Inc. where he honed his decorative skills.
In 2005, Emily and Marshall met on a residential design project where Emily fabricated many of the custom furniture and lighting pieces. They went on to work together on many decorative projects over the years.
In 2011, Emily and Marshall founded Savoie McCormick. They combined their design aesthetics, Marshall’s knowledge of decorative design and Emily’s knowledge of the fabrication process to launch a small artisanal lighting collection. The collection reflects their appreciation of the inherent beauty found in natural materials as well as their passion and respect for hand craftsmanship.
